San Juan De La Cruz (St. John of the Cross) (1542-1591) joined the Carmelite Order in Spain when he was twenty-one. Living in a time of great religious controversy, he was kidnapped and imprisoned--an experience of deep suffering that formed the basis for much of his writing.
I love my St Benedict beads! They are with me always, a constant source of comfort and a handy aid to prayer. I love how they fit discretely in my hand and never get tangled! I bought more to give as gifts to my family.
Bishop Fulton Sheen was as well known in his day as our present bishop Robert Barron or father Mike Schmitz of the “Bible in a Year” fame. You can still find video clips of many of his sermons. But I did not know he had written a book on the sacraments. This book is fantastic!
