St. Joseph Orphange, Nigeria
Orphanage Update

June, 2006
St Joseph Orphanage Idum-Mbube has come
of age. The Orphanage is expanding and the children are growing and graduating
into new classes. The need for a secondary section has become too obvious as we
intend to keep the present complex purely as an orphanage with kids of the
primary or elementary level. We propose to our donors through Gospa Mission to
help us fulfill our dreams as we propose the following capital projects for our
Primary Section and our Secondary Section:
Needs of the Primary Section
- Build and equip a library with books
and computers - $15,000
- Build and equip 1 vocational center
with musical instruments and sewing machines - $50,000
- Provide a satellite link for the
internet. Initial hardware and installation - $3,395.
- Complete the water supply
project - $15,000
- Provide playground facilities -
$15,000
- Provide a better electricity generator -
$35,000
- Provide a school
farm - $25,000
- Provide
additional staff quarters - $50,000
- School bus and
administrative car - $45,000
- Additional
school buses (15) – add 5 per year at $35,000 each
- Running/ overhead costs -
$96,500/year
This is our further proposal in
terms of priorities:
Year 2006
Water project, generator, library,
and school bus/car
Year 2007
Vocational center, satellite link,
school farm, playground, 5 school buses
Year 2008

$100,000

library/computer place - $40,000

This is our further proposal in
terms of priorities:

Smile! St. Joseph Orphanage School is home to some 550 Nigerian children. The number of
orphans in Nigeria is increasing daily with disease taking the lives of many
parents and poverty forcing others to abandon their children. We have developed
a "Sponsor an Orphan" program.
