Pope Benedict XVI to stop Idolatry at Assisi

ANOTHER BRAVO TO BENEDICT XVI.

The Holy Father has taken strong measures to stop the gross violations of the 1st Commandment that have become commonplace at Assisi made famous by  the 'interreligious peace events' of 1986 and 2002.

"They went so far as to allow African animists to slaughter chickens on the altar of the basilica of Santa Chiara, and American redskins to dance in the church."  ...and place Buddha statues on the altar and tabernacle.

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT  "I  am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. It is written: "You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve."

The first commandment forbids honoring gods other than the one Lord who has revealed himself to his people. (2110).

The first commandment condemns polytheism. It requires man neither to believe in, nor to venerate, other divinities than the one true God. (2112)

Idolatry not only refers to false pagan worship. It remains a constant temptation to faith. Idolatry consists in divinizing what is not God. (2113)

Many martyrs died for not adoring "the Beast" refusing even to simulate such worship. Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.
